In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), Angie’s List devoted our entire April magazine to “Green Living”. Click here to check it out! From an online poll conducted with our members 94% of the respondents say the environment is somewhat or extremely important to them.
The Green issue of the Angie’s List magazine is loaded with articles about living in an eco- friendly environment. The issue also shares useful tips for benefiting not only the environment but also your pocket book! Our favorite tips include:
- Water your lawn and plants in the morning rather than the heat of the day. Doing so will prevent water from evaporating in the hot temperatures, and in turn save the amount of water you need to accomplish the task!
- See a 75% reduction in electricity by switching to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. A bit pricier to purchase but they are usually guaranteed to last five to seven years!
- Need to toss an old computer? According to the Environment Protection Agency electronic devices contain significant amounts of lead and mercury that can leak into groundwater. Consider utilizing recycling alternatives in your area. Some companies specialize in refurbishing computers and donating them to nonprofit groups. Visit your state’s government website to inquire about recycling efforts in your area.
