The whirlpool tub in my bathroom(circa 1989) is made out of "man made marble"..(ie"plastic like material) it is NOT Fiberglass...it was simply referred to as,
Man made marble......which of course it is nothing like...marble that is...anyway, there are five panels around the tub....one large in the front the length of the tub....and four small panels...that go around the rest of the tub....which is besides the point...my question is simple....CAN this substance be Cut...I only need the amt. equal to a ceramic tile cut from the bottom of the panels.....long story...new ceramic tile floor put in...butted up to all five panels...BUT panels had been put in NOT straight up by the Termite inspector...not enough to notice until after the tile floor had been installed...and now the panels are falling out...
....my bright or not idea.....take out panels....have tile floor continued under where the edge of the panels will sit...and then re-install panels...but cut the depth of the tile off of the bottom of the panel....then, replace the panel on top of the tile that is now extented back far enough(not butted) so panel actually sits on the ceramic tiles........AND....if this solution will not work........could I have the panels taken out permanently....and ....some sort of blue board...green board or whatever it is called....put in its place...and then use ceramic tile to ...tile...up to...the existing man made marble.......my son's house is like that...but of course....it was not an "after thought" it was built that way.......
I need a solution NOW...and I need a solution that....let me say is CHEAP....or as cheap as I can get it....
If the man made marble can be cut......who or what kind of business would cut it.....a real marble place.....perhaps.....
I am asking because at one point I asked one of the Box Stores about cutting a hole in the vanity top...also man made marble...so a real sink could be put in with a lip over the man made marble and they said "it is impossible to cut man made marble"........so, is it????
I know they make really cheap man made marble...that really is "plastic"....I don't have that....although I don't think this is the best quality it is pretty average for the time it was installed.....WOW how things have improved in that area.....too bad my bank acct. has not.....it is oh so much less then back then...but I need this problem taken care of as soon and in a way that will not look really dumb...if I sell....should say...when I sell....low bank acct. problem as I said...
Any other suggestions that are reasonable will be appreciated...

There is NOT a "TAG" for ceramic tile....or "tile" even in general...oversite....perhaps my question will never get answered then....
