I have firsthand knowledge of how Joe Ramsey, JMR Contracting, Ramsey Investments, and possible other names, has ripped off people in the SW Idaho area. He's from Cincinnati, but has worked in KY. He's a smooth talker and seems trust worthy, but beware.
He's declaring bankruptcy in order to get away with ripping off all those people in Nampa, Idaho. I know 2 homeowners who are facing foreclosure because of him. For more information see the following links to the local Nampa newspaper:

On a related matter, no matter how much you trust your building contractor, get the financing in your name and do not let your lender disburse the funds directly to the builder. Also, get extended title coverage to protect yourself from liens that might come up after the fact. Its a little more expensive, but worth it if your builder is a ciminal like Joe Ramsey. Insist on Invoices, lien Releases from his subcontractors, and write the checks yourself or have your lender do it. Also get any changes in writing. Its just too easy to get taken by someone such as Joe Ramsey.
Joe's wife was a realtor out here in Idaho, but lost here license because she signed some of the bad checks. Her name is Mandy Ramsey, and they are reportedly still together.
