Doors: Sealing, "A-1 Landtex Siding and Roofing", more

I had a really enlightening experience with a "contractor" here in Conroe, TX,  40 miles N of Houston. [Please DO NOT confuse this name with A-1 Roofing in Conroe, a completely different company that I have not dealt with, but I see they have a BBB logo and a Roofing Contractors Association of Texas logo]
The company I hired ["A-1 Land-Tex Roofing and Siding" with 5 phone numbers (for 4 small cities + cell)], from the 2007 yellow pages (the 2008 pages were not out at the time), and a 2 page ad //  NOW "A-1 Land-Tex Roofing and Sheet Metal" with 1 Conroe number, no cell number]  to fix a very bad leak between the back patio and house; the work was started January 17 of this year and did not initially fix the leaks. I called Mr David Land on his cell phone and he came back 3 times, but the problem was still not resolved. Every call and visit from Mr Land was noted and and written down. And I was relentless in calling.
FINALLY, this last week, it just poured down on Monday the 12th; on May 13, I called Mr Land and got the same recording that all the other numbers have; I left a message stating:

Mr Land could complete the work and there would no longer be any leaks ($1143.00 paid) and we would be square

We could go to small claims court here

Or that I would possibly post his "work" on the internet [I have tons of pictures of the leaks when it poured down raining !] on my internet site

Within 10 minutes, Mr Land had called me back and stated he would come the next day if I'd be home. He came the next day and completed the repair work, but it hasn't rained hard enough to know whether or not his work finally fixed the leaks; I assume nothing, but from the looks of it, there are new  shingles and he really spent some time on the job, so I'm really hoping for the best.
Why 'contractors' treat people this way is a total mystery to me. Mr Land is a nice enough person, and is very experienced in his field; his dad started their business. It would have been so much easier just to have just done it right the FIRST time around than to have strung me out so long. I finally just "broke" ! I've had it with sorry repair people around this area ! Normally, I can perform most of the work around my house, but I'm not into roofing and carpentry that much, so for those particular jobs, I do have pay to have work done.

This is my first post here and if inappropriate, or in the wrong place, my apologies. I haven't been as active as I would have liked to have been when I initially
joined, but will try to become more a part of the "community" here. Right now, I need someone who can true up my front and back doors of my home and make sure the seals are good so that as little air as possible is lost throgh them.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (or get it fixed !).
