I have a townhouse in the Capitol Hill Historic District in Washington DC. It was built in 1895.
Because I live in an historic district, there are certain limitations to materials and methods that may be used in renovations and special permit approvals are required for some work.
I would like to do some fairly major improvements, add a new room, reconfigure a floor, add a new bath and kitchen, yada yada.
I think it is important to work with contractors who are familiar with and respect the special issues related to working in the Historic District.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this and have any recommendations?
