For my dog's shots that are outside of her annual exam (Bordatella usually since that's every 6 months), I simply request that she be just given the shot with no exam. She sees a vet tech instead of a vet, and I only pay for the shot.   Not sure where you are, but I use Alexandria Animal Hospital in Alexandria, VA.
