I would try two things; smaller, heavier balls in the food dish and elevating the food dishes off the floor---they have to *reach up* and therefore can't gulp!
If you are feeding premium foods, there won't be grains which can cause the tummy problems you describe. Some brands are Wellness, Nature's Variety, Natural Balance, Halo's ...
