  • Lost--Need Advice

My beloved husband is one of the handiest, most capable people I know, and he loves doing home projects.  Unfortunately, he doesn't have time in his life to pursue this as well as work, spend time with his family, and engage in his many other activities of interest.  However, due to his capabilities, in the 18 years we have lived in ...

  • Re: looking for good basement repair company in Milwaukee area

We had drain tile installed from a company suggested by Angie's List. The basement is dry, but there are a few things we can caution you about. First, use an established company. If the company goes out of business, the warranty is worthless. The one we used is out of business now. They attached a hose outside for the water to drain from the ...

  • Capitol Hill Historic District, Washington, DC

I have a townhouse in the Capitol Hill Historic District in Washington DC. It was built in 1895. Because I live in an historic district, there are certain limitations to materials and methods that may be used in renovations and special permit approvals are required for some work. I would like to do some fairly major improvements, add a new room, ...

  • Beware of this Contractor in the Cincinnati area!

I have firsthand knowledge of how Joe Ramsey, JMR Contracting, Ramsey Investments, and possible other names, has ripped off people in the SW Idaho area.  He's from Cincinnati, but has worked in KY.  He's a smooth talker and seems trust worthy, but beware.  He's declaring bankruptcy in order to get away with ripping off ...

  • Are You Currently Living in a Remodeling Nightmare?

Hi, I'm producing a show that is seeking people like yourself who are currently undergoing a remodeling or renovation job that is half-finished or being done poorly -- slow, over budget, sloppy, etc.  Those living in a half-done place who have fired their Contractor are also welcome.    We are seeking Southern ...

  • Giant Antenna

We've lived in our 100+ year old house for about two years now. The previous owners had a giant antenna installed on one side of the roof (can be seen a little at the top of this photo). It's tethered to the roof with five or six cables, though one of the cables came off the roof sometime last year and now swings around along the side ...

  • Re: Good HVAC contractor in DC area??

We've been using McCrea Equipment Company for about 3 years with no complaints. They arrive on time, sometimes early, even wear paper booties. We have a maintenance contract that covers Spring and Fall inspections including parts.

  • If I knew then what I know now...

Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.  – Oscar Wilde If someone could have given you (or did give you) one piece of advice before becoming a homeowner… or if you could give someone that advice yourself (hint: you can)… what would it be?
